DA list feedback
#21
my main thought is jealousy as mine hasn't arrived Sad

Can't really comment too much as don't know what has changed. from previous codex - is ezekiel worth it?
Do the flakk missiles mean you can't use krak/frag with it or is it in addition.
How many points is the list?
The termies are going to scatter - can you drop zeke and take a bike squad with homers?

I don't think zeke is worth it if it is just to div the tac squad - with bs 4 they are only going to miss 1/3 of the time and so rerolls only is going to give you one or two more hits on such a small squad. It's good for things like the blob cos the more models the more use you get out of it.

I personally hate aegis defence lines, but each to their own. It's expensive with the quad gun and very static, with pa dudes you get very little benefit from it cos it only protects you from ap3 or better, where weight of fire is prob what is going to bring you down.

I have heard our dev teams are cheap, why not take a 10 man dev squad with 4 ml and flakk missiles, prob won't set you back as much as the line and zeke does together.

145 for 3 powers (one has to be mind worm which is a great power now) also BS 5 so quad gun will be fun!

additional to the krak/frag so you can choose

1750

it was mainly to use the anti air capabilities but i take you point.

they are.

Cheers i'll keep going on the list. try to rework it a bit.... maybe go cheap psyker and a bigger squad.

and yes belial prevents scatter and you get reroll on all shooting attack misses on the turn of the deep strike.

I will add that a 4 dev squad missile list cant happen as i just dont have the models and i dont want to buy any more if im honest.

i could make a decent dev squad carrying 1 plasma cannons, 1 las canon, 1 missile and a multi melta. but thats all really.

Ok, revised.

HQ
Belial - With knights
lvl 2 Librarian

Elites
6 Deathwing Knights

Troops
8 tac marines - Lascannon
9 tac marines - Missile Launcher + flak missiles
7 deathwing terminators - TH/SS - Cyclone
7 deathwing terminators - TH/SS - Assault cannon

Heavy support
Contemptor Dreadnought - Kheres Assault cannon - Cyclone

slightly more balanced i think. DW are largeer units which should help, and the tac marine squads are larger too to cover the special weapons.

Or

HQ
Belial - With knights
lvl 2 Librarian

6 Deathwing Knights

Troops
7 tac marines - Lascannon
8 tac marines - Missile Launcher + flak missiles
6 deathwing terminators - TH/SS - Cyclone
6 deathwing terminators - TH/SS - Assault cannon

Fast Attack
3 Black knights

Heavy support
Contemptor Dreadnought - Kheres Assault cannon - Cyclone

In list two i'd bomb the knights forwards (scout and they're skilled rider which will help) then drop the knights and terminators near. (knights can drop anywhere as they wont scatter if they're with Belial)

cheers we'll see how it performs this tuesday!

(though i'll need to cut it down by 250...)

edit - I've kit bashed two more missile toting Marines now so a 2 or 3 missile devastator squad is possible.

I'll see how it all fits together

Gave the Dark angels their first appearance with the new codex. coming up against Chaos seemed pretty appropriate.
the 1500 point list i used:

HQ
Belial – Storm Bolter & Sword of Silence – 190
Librarian – Level 2 psyker, Combat shield Force weapon – 105
Troops
10 x Deathwing – 2 TH/SS, 2 Assault Cannon – 490
5 x Deathwing – 1 TH/SS, 1 Cyclone – 250
7 x tactical Marine – Missile Launcher + Flakk – 123
Fast Attack
Black Knights – Grenade launcher – 126
Heavy Support
Contemptor Dreadnought – 2 Kheres Assault cannon, Cyclone Missile Launcher – 215
Total - 1499

The result was a 8-2 VP win to me (we got the scouring or whatever the one where you kill units for VPs is)

Thoughts
Getting first turn i bombed the knights forwards on a scout move meaning that they were easily in range of the side armour of the rhino. The black knights were very good and i think with a bigger unit (6 bikes) and taking one grenade launcher they could be outstanding.

The big drop from 10 terminators right in the opposing backfield was good, having 2 assault cannons and gaining rerolls on all misses made short work of passengers of the rhino (the black knights having cracked that nut wide open) however they didn't survive too long as a nurgle daemon lord made short work of them the murder sword. Belial made a tactical withdrawal after the lord died. as at that point typhus and his escort of terminators dropped in.

the contemptor was outstanding as always, with the dragon flyer coming on in range of its interceptor and it dropping it before it did anything. it also wiped out most of the slannesh unit and the rhino that was carrying them.

The second terminator squad did little and died quickly.

The tac squad, sat at the back and popped a few things with bolters and missiles but were otherwise doing little. same with the librarian.

Im in two minds now as to whether to add in some Deathwing knights or go for more scoring units and get some terminators. (or maybe a command squad to buff the drop terminators. also i think i may make the librarian more offensive, drop the second level (lets be honest i only want prescience) and stick him in terminator armour for a drop. could probably play with some of the special war gear that way!

I'll play around with a few point costs and go from there.

List for trail 2
On reflection i liked the way the Blob of terminators performed. so i've kept them i was also so impressed with the Black knights i've added three more (especially now they can rapid fire those plasma talons!

anyway, as always thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Belial
Libby in Terminator armour with Lions Roar

10 DW terminators 2 AC 2 TH/SS
5 DW terminators 1 Cyclone 1 TH/SS
7man Tac squad with Vet sarg and Plasma cannon
7man Tac squad with Vet sarg and Plasma cannon

(I may switch out the vet sergeant and plasma cannon for a missile with flakk on one squad)

6 man Black knights squad - 1 grenade launcher.

Contemptor Dreadnought with kheres assault cannons and cyclone

Cheers
