First millitary ground sectors are not limited to 6' range, its also a bit confusing if they can shoot into atmosphere due to the wording of escape velocity. i think they should as the ground is a layer below atmosphere but its not labeled as such clearly in the rules. what do others think?

The other rule is combining close action of groups against the point defence of enemy ships, for the life of me i cant find that rule anywhere. can anyone point it out? (EDIT: I think I found it, it's hidden in the way shooting is resolved. [Allocate ALL dice from group, Roll ALL dice to hit, PD against any close action that happened, roll armour saves, record damage etc...] This make sense? Will leave this in case anyone else wonders the same thing.)

Yeah, the close action thing has been mentioned a few times by Talons on the Hawk forum, and even by the mighty Andy Chambers himself on facebook. Though not clear in the book, the intention is that a GROUP's CAW is combined against a single PD roll.

For the mIlitary guns, I think me and JJ decided to play it as that they can shoot targets in atmosphere; while Corvettes are rare, this helps give strike carriers a weakness.

Does anyone have some spare frigate bases, the clear flight stands and some widgets. I didn't get enough with my pledge and who knows when Hawk will get round to sending out replacements Smile

I am looking to get 8 of them (ideally 13 but 13 widgets would do as well)

Just checked through and I have a few spare I'll bring in 8 stands and widgets on Tuesday. Smile

Just ordered myself the 2 player starter box, so joining the party Smile Should get my starter set this week and I'll put it all together over the weekend.

Any newbie tips? Any advice on assembling and loadouts of the starter set?

The fleets on the reference sheet are quite balanced (both in rules and points etc. As well as showing off special rules and launch assets) so i went with those. But have a read of the lists in the core rules and have a look at what you want to play with. (Just bear in mind. You only get 2 blank battlegroup cards in the 2 player box). Though something with dropship capability is pretty much a requirement.

Hey guys, welcome to the party!

We're having an all-dayer this Sunday (27th) in Evesham of Dropfleet Commander if either of you want to join??

Yeah I'd recommend going with the starter builds that come with the starter box to start with as they are pretty balanced.

What you can do with the blank battlegroup cards is put them into plastic wallets and use an OHP pen to write on them.
