Cutlass!
#1
The small jolly boat tied up alongside the small jetty, and the crew disembarked swiftly.
"She not be here Capin" exclaimed the bosun for the upteenth time.
"You know that do you Mr. Bosun?" Replied the captin without breaking stride.
"Well..."
"For a fact Mr.Bosun?" Enquired the Captain as he spun on his heel to face his Bears.
Silence followed, this was an oft repeated argument, " Thought not mr. bosun, onward.
The Bears walked up the main street, the Governors fortress on their left the ruined French church on their right.
The Bosun took 2 Bears and moved off towards the market that sprung up around the church to secure some supplies.
The Captain suddenly looked up at the sound of female laughter. walking towards them was a group of laughing women, all dressed like men and armed to the teeth.
"Her!" he seethed, "She Witch!" he shouted.
The women stopped and looked about after hearing the shout, followed by 2 loud cracks. One of the women felt a sting in her leg and looked down to see blood pooling at her feet. Another crack followed, and the street cleared in panic.
The She witch and her cronies were now obscured from view, the bears knelt with practised motions and reloaded.
The Captain moved through the smoke and fired again towards the gaggle of women, again missing.
the Bosun, on hearing his Captains shout had moved round behind , using a hedge as cover. 2 women moved to meet them cutlasses drawn , steel rang on steel.
2 more cracks filled the air as the bosun sliced through flesh.Opponent dispatched he moved to directly behind the Sea Witch and her retinue, reached inside his long coat and took out the grenade.
Kneeling down he took out his flint and lit the fuse. He stood up with an evil grin on his face, and looked up at his target, just as his Captain and 2 crew mates charged into combat.
" Oh for fluffs sake". Now he had a problem, and started huffing and puffing on the fuse before it could detonate.
Steel rang on steel ,and in a few short moments the Sea Witch found herself alone facing 3 Bears.
"Yield" demanded the Captain.
She looked down at her dazed and bleeding crew.
"Yield or die!" growled the Captain.
With one final look at her opponents, she looked up at the Bear Captain and smiled.
" I think not", and she spun, slicing down at the Captain, who just managed to raise his own cutlass in surprise, she spun again , shouldering one bear armed with a musket into a hedge. She ducked under another cutlass and turned to the third Bear, slicing him across the knees, standing she deflected another thrust, feinted to the left and found fur and flesh. the captain slumped to the floor with a groan.
no time to gloat she remembered the final Bear still stuck in the hedge and turned in time to receive a butt to the face, darkness claiming her, her last thought being, " well thats just so unfair".
" Grab the others and lets go before the Lobsters show up, quickly lads", ordered the Bosun as he sucked his burnt paws.
