New LOTR Eregion Force
#1
I'm just assembling the humble beginnings of an Eregion force, according to the structure set out in the Legions of Middle Earth book.

I want to build the foundation of a fairly flexible force, so I'm thinking of starting out with something like...

Elrond
Gild-Galad
Erestor
Elf Captain
16 x Elf Warriors with heavy armour and bows.
16 x Elf Warriors with heavy armour and elven blades.
16 x Elf Warriors with heavy armour, spears and shields.

I'd like to get some Elf Cavalry too, but I'm not sure which models are applicable. Can I adapt the Galadhrim Knights for this purpose?

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Forces of Eregion can ally themselves with:

the Grey Havens,
Lothlorien,
Thranduils Halls,
Fangorn,
The Army of the High King,
Durins Folk

As the Galadhrim form part of the Lothlorien forces you can field the knights alongside your eregion force.

If you add a GW pack you can make up the following:

2 x Galadhrim Knight + Bow
3 x Galadhrim Knight + Blade
1 x Galadhrim Knight + Blade + Banner

If I've done the maths right this will add up to around 1095 points.

To assist with this force I have Legolas, Haldir, Galadriel, Elrond, Gil-Galad and a Galadhrim Banner Bearer all in my possession (most as yet unpainted other than Elrond, Legolas and the Banner Bearer.

I've also got 8 warriors of the last alliance, 4 with sword, and 4 with bow.

Much appreciated Si - I hadn't noticed that Eregion can be allied with Lothlorien!

Each "Warriors of the Last Alliance" GW pack also gives me 8 Warriors of Numenor, which is a good platform upon which to build The Army of the High King - one of the other forces I'd like to assemble, and one that can also be allied with Eregion and Lothlorien.

Galadhrim Knights (6 knights)

Saved a fair few quid by ordering from Gifts for Geeks - never tried them before so fingers crossed.

Will pick up Erestor when I'm next passing a Games Workshop store.

I'll endeavour to post some progress pics on here as I begin to assemble and paint with a view to having some models ready in time for the next meeting. I'm supposed to be refitting our bathroom next week, so I might try and sneak a paintstation in there with me...

By my reckoning, this force, without any extra wargear is worth 1197 points.

I'll knock up a 1200 point army for tomorrow.

The cavalry haven't got shields, banner or one of the bows attached yet (need to paint first) but we should be able to fudge our way through hopefully.

That's no problem. We've just got to remember the banner bearer reroll capability.
