I think it will be best to do 2, 4x4 tables. That would make it easier for the board cutting. The tables we use at the club are 6x4 cut into 2x4 chunks. So a single table cut appropriately.
Dave @ grandmanner mentioned an important aspect of terrain tables was storage and transportation. Looking at the size of the tables Dan has been producing i think the tables would need to be cut into 2x2 chunks.
I'd also concentrate on doing board 1 first.
Initial Stages..
Start by sticking 25mm pink foam to the board.
Layout the boards together and transfer the diagram to the board.
Mark out fields, grassy areas and areas where small hills would go, ponds etc.
Carve out the harbour and northern coastal region.
Get the main buildings in (I've a few ideas for these), and the boats, allocate them to the table get some idea of scale marking their locations.
Carve out the river/creek (this could go horribly wrong).
Carve out any of the road network required. Adding cart ruts etc
Finish the coast and sea.
Start work on the inland area.
Whether we go to Salute or not I might have a crack at this project, my only limitations are space (garage is full of classic mini, and wargaming figures, making the layout of a 4x4 board pretty tricky), and time.
