D&D is the good classic that helped start off the role playing game popularity, I've personally played and ran many different roleplays, SLA industries, Pathfinder, vampire, paranoia. But my all time favourite is definitely Call of Cthulhu, which i've been successfully running with my friends over the last few years
Fantasy flight games has published some role playing games set in the 40k universe. Dark heresy lets you play inquisitors, rogue trader lets you play pirates and outlaws, Deathwatch lets you play a squad of deathwatch marines, and black crusade lets you play chaos worshippers.

) is a veteran role player and if anyone wanted to know about a game they wouldn't go far wrong asking him about it
