Isengard (Chris) and Mordor (Will) vs Rohan (Luke) at the West Emnet

Krulguk's band was one of many invading the green country of the horse-folk, under orders from Saruman himself to leave no horse or man alive. At first things had been easy, the Uruk Hai and orcs had burned several villages and slaughtered all the inhabitants who had been too slow to flee, or too foolish.
Things were about to get a lot more interesting. His band had spotted riders a day before, but they had not engaged. Having few Warg Riders himself Krulguk had figured he'd just keep doing what he did best, burn, slay, eat man-flesh. Turns out a sizeable part of the Rohan force was on foot - must be due to a shortage of horses. Battle was imminent, Krulguk was eagerly looking forward to some fiercer opponents.
'right boys, let's take that big pointy thing over there, kill stuff as you go. Any of you scum run and I'll crush them myself'.
Krulguk heard war horns sound from the other side of the battlefield. 'This is it, tonight we feast on man-flesh!'

The Orc boys from the black land, who he didn't trust, held the centre and right flank, while he took the left with the boys from orthanc and the armoured Troll, Fred. Weird name that he thought.
Krulguk loped forward, spotting a group of riders in front across some ruined walls. 'Let's give them a volley' he called to the crossbow men, but none of the wicked bolts found their mark. Arrows from the riders were falling around them, one clanged on Krulguk's shield.
Reaching the walls, Krulguk could see some of the orcs across the field looking in danger of getting cut off by the men, and was pleased to see them begin to close the gap in the Orc line. A few Orc bodies lay on the ground with arrow shafts pointing to the cursed sky. Thankfully the sky was gray and rain was falling.
He snapped his attention back to the Riders. 'Forward you dogs' he called, the crossbows were having little effect, this battle would be decided by hewing meat, not by these strange contraptions that fired bolts. All to Krulguk's liking.
The Riders were close now, close enough that a deadly volley from their bows took down a couple of Uruk hai and an Orc just to his left. They had reached the obelisk in the centre of the field.Bellowing wordlessly, Krulguk charged at two of the approaching Riders, the burst of speed taking them by surprise. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Fred the troll swinging at a heavily armoured Rider.
Krulguk's sword swung at the neck of the first horse, severing it's head and as it dropped he darted to the side, avoiding a slash from the second riders axe. He stabbed upwards as the rider drew level, his sword biting deep into the rider and as it fell he ripped it free, hot blood spraying his face. Without pause Krulguk turned and smashed his shield into the face of the first rider who was just recovering from being dismounted. As the man staggered back in pain, Krulguk cleaved him in two.
Pausing briefly, he could see the Troll still fighting the Rohan captain, while his own boys, depleted in number were just fending off the other Riders. Over to the right a large mass of men and orcs were locked in a bloody struggle, but he could see the bloodlust on the faces of the mordor orcs as their shaman continued to utter words of the black speech.

Krulguk revelled in the slaughter, seeing another Rider he leapt into battle again, the Rider was a fierce looking warrior and initially forced him back, the horse and Rider moving as one, but Krulguk was not to be stopped. Hacking at the leg of the rider while his shield was raised he heard a scream, and he finished off the man as he toppled from his horse.
He heard a crunch and looked over to see Fred raise his massive fist after squashing the Rohan captain into the earth. As Krulguk rallied his remaining boys round the obelisk, the remaining men started to retreat, and run away.
'Saruman, Saruman, Saruman!' Went up the harsh cry of his lads. 'Looks like meats back on the menu boys! ' Krulguk said with a grin.

Nice write up Chris. Was a good read.

I managed to get a couple of not brilliant pictures of the game.

bulk of the evil army lining up for battle

small detachment of the mordor orc force cut off from the main combined orc and uric army

the forces of the rohian move to protect the westfold

a swirling melee develops as the mordorian forces move to engage the horse deprived elements of the rohian force.

Cheers Will, nice pics, especially the added 'shaky camera effect' of the last one - really makes it feel like a swirling melee!
