Paul - As there are no points there really isn't anything I can supply you with currently. There are a number of systems that are available though, to determine a balanced game. I intend to look over these and decide which system I prefer, although at the time I haven't got around to more than reviewing the clash comp (Independent Pool Choices) a few months ago whilst playing a demo against Dave.
Stuart - Wood Elves currently are in AoS. I say currently, because as of Thursday 18/2/16, the Tomb Kings are too. However it is expected that come Saturday, they are removed from the game. However it might be best to describe the game system. There are currently four Alliances, Order, Chaos, Destruction and Death. Chaos being equivalent to Warrior of Chaos, Beastsmen, Deamons and the new Khorne Bloodbound. Destruction are Orcs and Goblins, along with the Ogres. Death are Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings, whilst Order fill in the rest including Dark Elves. However in these Alliances, there are then sub-factions, which tend to have Keywords associated with them. Your standard Wood Elves, have the Keywords Ælf, and Wanderer. The Ælf means that they have synergies with other Ælf factions, including the High Elves and Dark Elves, whilst the Wanderer keyword becomes more associated with the Wood Elf models. So if you select as a model in your force the Glade Captain Battle Standard Bearer, he has an ability that only effects Wanderer models. As such the deeper into an alliance you delve the greater the synergies you find, however the more limited in choice of models you find, and the more specialised your force becomes. in other words your free to select some of the new Auric Hearthguard to play with, but they will become less powerful then if they were accompanied with other Fyreslayer characters. Also with Wood Elves its worth noting that the old Forest Spirits in the Wood Elf books are NOT Wanderers. They now have the Sylvaneth Keyword, which whilst you can still field a Wood Elf force similar to that of old, with Archers and Treemen, they do not have as close Synergies that used to.
