Nope you can shoot through your units with no penalty, but if you are behind a unit of yours you get a cover save (5+ i believe), you've got it wrong way round. Smile

Sorry bud, page38, firing through units (even friendly ones) will grant a cover save i the enemy is 25% obscured.

Also - no point in oblits being in cover as they have 2+/5+ save IIRC (defo 2+ not sure on inv)

Aye- Which is why the cultists move out the of way, Oblits shoot, cultists run to get back in front ;-)
Edit: D'oh. Forgot about the Invuln, so the Cultist shield would be daft. A Sorcerer buffing them with Biomancy would only be a small amount of points more and could hang out of the line of fire, move, buff, run back out the way.
40K - Tyranids (4500 Points) & Chaos - The Purge and the Brazen Host (8500 Points)
30K - Death Guard (2000ish Points), Sons of Horus (175 Points because Loken) + World Eaters, soon.
Project Log
"Only a fool takes Khârn for a mindless brute or rabid dog. Under that blood-soaked helm lurks an intelligence and cunning that makes him a masterful killer - trust me when I say that there is a dark purpose in his madness."

But the eldar will not beat their 2+ save, but do ignore cover?
The oblits will get no benefit from it?
W40K: Blood Ravens / Orks / Inquisitor / Imperial Guard
Warhammer: Dwarfs
Warmachine: Protectorate of Menoth / Khador / Cygar / Circle
Malifaux: Started Neverborn and Outcasts

Aye, sorry- ignore that. Replace with barebones Sorcerer rolling on biomancy for a decent chance to get some good buffs. That + two MoN Oblits will set you back 212 points and have a decent chance of making that back before death.

Think I'll stick to hiding in my deployment zone on an objective and let them come to me Tongue
My list has no room for extra units after my HQ+2Troops Big Grin

Summary so far (still work in progress, feedback if you see something you don't agree with) to get us back on topic Tongue-
500pts starting point.
Must fill out mandatory slots in your CAD (ie HQ, 2 Troops).
No allies.
Only one unit from each slot bar troops. (ie HQ, Elites, Fast attack, Heavy support) So no triple riptide, only one allowed, then crisis suits then stealth suits etc.
2 of each Dedicated transport allowed max. For Eldar, falcons can be taken as dedicated transports
2 Flyer/FMC max. No swooping until 1000Pts plus met?
Whatever unit you choose must stay in you army, the only thing that can be changed is upgrades at month end when you gain your 250 points.
Low Allowed but can't spend more than 250 Pts. This means Characters are a go but should stop super heavies.
Losing 3 games in a row increase your point allowance to 300 for next month.
Invisibility nerf in effect
Chaos only can summon, 1 unit max per turn.
Maybe something to stop certain MC's
No AV14 till 1250 Pts has been reached?
4' x 4' till 1000 Pts, 6' x 4' for 1250Pts plus

Missed anything?

Edit - players so far

Matt - Alpha Legion (exactly what kind TBC)
Thom - Dark Angels
Tom - Dark Angels

Ben - Eldar

Dann B - Necrons

That took ages to read... I will bring the undead warriors to the game then. The ideas so far all sound really good! I'm eagerly awaiting the new codex before I can put a list together but basic infantry and a lord will easily cover the 500 points to start with.

If PE is being used will there be bonuses for holding certain tiles and the likes?

It all looks good to me. My only question is are flyers going to be stuck in skimmer mode (whatever it's called) until 1000pts like FMC's?

Oh yeah, and where do we stand on FW models? Like a Tomb Stalker for instance, or Pylons haha
