Dropzone list/shoptalk thread
#1
hi all

just want to bounce some ideas off everyone, pretty inexperienced at dropzone so pooling our list ideas before committing to buy/build/paint the stuff might be a good idea Smile

i've been working on phr an ucm 1500 points mostly it just 2 starters thrown togehther with a few toys added but i feel the starters give a nice selection of units.

ucm 1500
Clash: 1491/1500 points
Standard Army

Standard Roster [1491/1500 pts]
Field Command [406 pts]
Kodiak: Kodiak(Lieutenant) [168 pts]
Wolverine Squad: 4x Wolverine A [72 pts]
Rapier Squad: 3x Rapier, Condor [166 pts]

Armored Formation [304 pts]
Sabre Squad: 3x Sabre, Condor(+Missile Pods) [152 pts]
Sabre Squad: 3x Sabre, Condor(+Missile Pods) [152 pts]

Legionnaire Corps [385 pts]
Legionnaires: 3x Legionnaires, Condor, 2x Bear [141 pts]
^ Sharing ^ Legionnaires: 3x Legionnaires [78 pts]
Rapier Squad: 3x Rapier, Condor [166 pts]

Legionnaire Corps [329 pts]
Legionnaires: 3x Legionnaires, Condor, 2x Bear [141 pts]
^ Sharing ^ Legionnaires: 3x Legionnaires [78 pts]
Eagle: Eagle [110 pts]

Air Wing [67 pts]
Archangel Squad: Archangel [67 pts]

my plan with this list is to play my sabers together an aggressively to try an limit hostile ground movement the rapiers just behind them to give aa cover, the troops push hard behind the tanks an grab key buildings wile the eagle hits buildings that cant be reached or armour trying to flank the main tank force, the wolverines spot for the Kodiak an also give a bit of light aa cover ,the lone fighter can snipe lone dropships/defend against gunships.

overall im pretty happy with this list.

phr on the otherhand i just dont know where to go Tongue

Hi, I know this was ages ago, but if you're still playing Dropzone, its currently having a bit of a revival at the club, so it'd be great if you got in touch for some games!

Thinking my Shaltari list will look something like this for 1500pts:

Court of Elders:
Coyote - Warchief
4 Yari scouts - microwave guns
2 Firstborn
Swordpoint:
3 Tomahawks
3 Kukris
Warrior Clan:
3 x 2 Braves
Warfist:
2 Thunderbirds
Jaguar
Arrowhead:
Warspear
Gate Pool:
Gaia Heavy Gate
3 Eden Medium Gates
2 Spirit Light Gates
2 Haven Terragates

Comes to 1498pts according to the FFOR program, but I noticed some of the points values are different in this than in the rulebook. For example Haven Gates are 15pts in the rulebook but 20pts on FFOR. Has there been some sort of FAQ that has changed the pts or is this a mistake of FFOR? I'm assuming the former.

btw Matt, thanks for the heads up for the FFOR list program, think it's great.
40K - Dark Angels, Dark Eldar, Necrons; Lord of the Rings - lots; Bloodbowl - Dwarves, Wood Elves; SAGA - Anglo Danes & Welsh; Guildball - Morticians, Engineers; Dropzone/fleet - Shaltari

No problem! It's great for testing/ building lists.

The FFOR is up to date with all the points/ rules tweaks. Hawk say they won't do this very often, but they felt a lower points cost for a few under-used units and slight nerfs to a few Shaltari units were necessary. I think Shaltari had been dominating tournaments, so they made them more expensive.

Looks like a well-balanced TAC list. Good spread of Gates, and nice to see a Fast Mover in there too. What CV is a Warchief?

Are the FAQ's/Errate etc. online somewhere? Also, has anyone got a pdf of the DZC rules?

Errata is listed here:

http://www.hawkwargames.com/blogs/errata

There's not too much, mostly points tweaks, the odd boost or reduction to Energy for certain weapons. For most factions the changes were positive, except Shaltari, who became more points expensive.

Working on an online PDF...

1500 list I'm working towards. Just need the pair of Corsairs...

1500 Army
Clash: 1500/1500 points
Standard Army
-Standard Roster [1500/1500 pts]
-Oppressors [333 pts]
Desolator: Desolator(Master) [225 pts]
Reavers: 2x Reaver [108 pts]
-Vanguard [292 pts]
Hunter Squad: 3x Hunter, Marauder [146 pts]
Hunter Squad: 3x Hunter, Marauder [146 pts]
-Warriors [237 pts]
Warrior Horde: 3x Warriors, Marauder, 2x Invader [156 pts]
^ Sharing ^ Warrior Horde: 3x Warriors [81 pts]
-Occupation Patrol [260 pts]
Destroyers: 2x Destroyers, Intruder Alpha [140 pts]
Prowlers: 8x Prowler, 2x Intruder Beta [120 pts]
-Invasion Host [258 pts]
Tormentor Squad: 2x Tormentor, Marauder [141 pts]
Reaper Squad: 3x Reaper [117 pts]
-Attack Swarm [120 pts]
Corsairs: 2x Corsair [120 pts]

A tad light on AA but it'll be relying on the Corsairs and Infantry (SA fire) for support. Can never fit everything I want in 1500! Would have loved to squeeze in an extra Destroyer squad, but never mind.

War chief is a mid-level CV, have been reading that Shaltari benefit from high CV value due to elite nature and gating around, so could take 1 level up from this by dropping an Eden gate. Will see how this list fares though. no idea what the fast mover will do! Otherwise can drop it and take an ocelot so I could have one of each walker and ability to demolish buildings from afar!

Yeah I would agree with high CV being useful, though we saw how useful lots of gates are too. Test both, see which feels like the better playstyle.

At 1500, its worth taking a FM, definitely. Ability to strike anywhere on the board, especially late game, is invaluable.
