Waterloo Mysteries Solved
#1
In this months WI there is a great article by Barry Van Danzig, author of Who Won Waterloo.

It's a class example of what can be done with the hobby.

In the book he attempts, with some success, to try and solve some of the mysteries around the Battle of Waterloo using wargaming.

Principally:

1. Were 12,000 French troops required to supress 200 British Guardsmen at Hougoumont.
2. Why did the Belgians flee from the battle when they did ?
3. Were Neys cavalry charges a disaster ?
4. Why did the French Imperial Guard attack on the left at La Haye Sainte ?
5. What caused the French to finally rout from the field ?

The article only scratches the surface of what's in the book but the setup of the table and forces is very impressive.
