Chris' Necron Fleet [Campaign]

OK I'm behind on doing this and after a nudge by JJ here is my bit for the campaign!

Image of fleet to follow...

EDIT: Current Roster:

Tombship - 'Eternal Night', with sepulchre (Ld10) 550pts - withdrawn for repair
Tombship - 'black hole' Ld7 500pts
Scythe Class cruiser - 'The Nameless' Ld6 275pts
Scythe Class cruiser - 'Sorrow' Ld6 275pts
Scythe Class cruiser - 'Thorn' Ld7 275pts
Scythe Class cruiser - 'Memory Loss' Ld6 275pts
Scythe Class cruiser - 'Empty Soul' Ld8 275pts
Shroud class light cruiser - 'Shadow' Ld6 155pts - withdrawn for repair
4 Jackal escorts - delta squadron Ld6 200pts
4 Jackal escorts - theta squadron Ld6 200pts
4 Jackal escorts - epsilon squadron Ld8 200pts
Reroll 25pts

Starting system: Platea (mining world)

Game 1 vs Graham's Chaos and he beat me in the bait (raid), in the Lithore system. I gained 1 renown and my scythe class Sorrow was crippled and withdrawn for repair, lost a point of leadership and was down to Ld6. The jackal escorts squadron delta was crippled and also withdrawn for repair. Forgot to roll for extra things after the raid.

Game 2 vs Keith's Tau. Battle in the Verstap system, fleet engagement. I deployed the Tombship and the other two scythes, as well as the shroud and the phi squadron, who survived a meteor storm virtually undamaged.I narrowly won, although took a lot of damage: thorn took three damage and was withdrawn for repair. Phi squadron lost one ship and so is down to 3 for the moment. The Tombship took 5 points of damage and was withdrawn for repair. Despair took one damaged which was repaired using my single repair point. The shroud was crippled and withdrawn for repair.

I ganed the Verstap system, rolled two reinforcements for my roster and gained 12 renown.

added a second Tombship and a 4th scythe to the roster

Game 3 vs JJ's Eldar, battle, planetary assault, JJ was the attacker in the Mezoa system - we were unsure if anyone already owned this? Will? Don't think he can cos not attached to Thanet. 1500 pt battle.

My forces were the Tombship black hole (rolled Ld and got a 6...), the scythes despair and sorrow, and both jackal class escort squadrons with phi squad being only 3 strong. Plus my reroll and 2 defence ships 60pts each. These were all deployed around the planet, with the defence ships in front as meat shields Smile

I rolled meteor storm subplot and the despair lost 3 pts of damage and 1pt Ld before the game started with a power surge, while sorrow lost a pt in Ld.

JJ deployed two nightshade squads of 3 on my left, the void stalker battleship in the centre with a cruiser (eclipse class?) and three shadow class cruisers on the right with 6 transports also on the right. He stormed forward, releasing ordnance T1. In reply my phi squadron did full speed ahead and took out two escorts on my left (total move of 90cm!) the other ships headed in the same direction.

JJ T2 he moved to intercept my escorts and his void stalker took one out even though they braced. His lone nightshade disengaged. My scythes were getting in range now and Sorrow locked on, annihilating an escort at the edge of her range with lightning arcs, followed by the other two of the squad with gauss particle whips. Black Hole scored 4 hits on a shadow class with 3 criticals, crippling her, and phi squad put two pts of damage on the void stalker and shredding her sails. Delta squad also poured fire into the void stalker, who braced but took two more damage.

T3 JJ moved towards the planet again, his void stalker bravely getting close to the three necron capital ships, and crippling the already damaged despair. By this point I think both defence monitors had been destroyed by torpedoes (?). The void stalker repaired her damaged sails. In reply sorrow fired upon the eclipse cruiser (silent wave?) leaving it a drifting hulk. the necrons circled the void stalker, unleashing a storm of fire, the Tombship successfully locking on. The Eldar ship was engulfed in an incandescent fireball, like unto a miniature sun as she exploded. The despair was also caught in the explosion which ripped through the necron ship, causing a chain reaction as it exploded in turn, engulfing the rest of phi squadron! As the explosive wave passed over them, the Tombship and the sorrow both took a point of damage each. Wow! Meanwhile delta squadron did all ahead full and took out an Eldar transport.

In the last turn as we were running out of time, JJ's 3 remaining capital ships all moved into low orbit, followed by the black hole under come to a new heading orders, who crippled one of them. Two or three more transports were also taken out, but they were easy pickings now and still a long way from the planet. The remaining Eldar retreated....

Brutal game JJ and that explosion was epic!

You destroyed a scythe class (550VP), and 3 jackals (150VPs) plus the defence monitors(120VP) - if you get points for these?

I think I destroyed a void stalker, an eclipse cruiser, and a nightshade squad,, plus 4 transports. I also crippled two shadow cruisers and the second nightshade squad. Let me know how many VP this is so I can work out my renown.

The despair is replaced with a Ld 6 scythe 'the nameless', and phi squad is replaced with squad theta who are also Ld 6.

Still need to do ld rolls and work out repairs and renown.

So according to JJ's spreadsheet I have 30 renown in total going into the game against Keith - guess I picked up 16 renown from the battle vs JJ. I need to do Ld rolls and repair from my last game before we play tonight Keith.

No worries Chris - looking forward to it. I'm also pretty sure that when you won against me you gained control of Verstap, the agricultural planet. So that gives you more repair points.

Sorry, just looked and you wrote about gaining Verstap in your first post. JJ, can you update the table in the campaign thread? Cheers!

Game against Keith yesterday:

Keith's Tau were attacking Verstap, a 1000pt battle. I won, gaining 10 renown (+2 for winning battle, +6 for VPs, +1 for subplot, +1 for beating a player with higher renown). Keith got 0 renown (+2 VPs, -1 subplot, +1 fighting higher pts fleet, -1 losing a battle and -1 capital ship lost).

That puts me on 40 renown while maintaing control of Verstap and Keith stays on 31 renown - don't interfere with the Necron Tomb worlds you upstart young race! Really enjoyed the game, it could have gone either way at the end - will post a more in depth battle report later.

My Scythe class Cruiser 'Sorrow' was crippled, went down to Ld6 and has been withdrawn for repair; The tombship ' Eternal Night' took 3 pts of damage, 2 of which were repaired with my 5 repair points (halved for being Necrons), so will start the next battle on 11 hit points instead of 12. The Jackal squadron 'delta' was also crippled so has been withdrawn for repairs.

I got two reinforcements so recruited a Ld8 Scythe class 'Empty Soul' and another 4 strong Jackal squadron, also Ld8 'Epsilon'.

I didn't bother rolling Exp for my Tombship since it's already Ld10 with the sepulchre but just read that you can roll on the Crew skills table instead - can Necrons do this? If so I'll do that before my next game.

Game 5 vs Grahams Chaos fleet:

Very briefly, Fleet engagement in the Halemnet system, 1000pts, I was the attacker and took the 'Eternal Night' Tombship who started on one pt of damage from the game vs Keith, a shroud class cruiser 'Shadow' and the Scythe class cruiser 'Empty Soul'.

Very close game, I pounced on two Chaos cruisers destroying one and forcing the other to disengage. I then proceeded to engage Graham's battleship and escorts, crippling the escorts and destroying the shield gens on the battleship with a lucky shot. However, by this point my tombship was crippled on 3HPs and disengaged and my shroud was crippled on 2HPs, not helped by two solar flares that damage all three of my ships on the roll of a six at the start of a turn, and Graham's massive range lance batteries from his battleship.

Graham disengaged and counting up VP's he beat me 314 to 300 - so close to seizing Halemnet!

The eternal night and Shadow were withdrawn for repair, while the Empty Soul was repaired to full HP's with my two repair points. I achieved my subplot (Fresh Captain) while Graham achieved his (Can't remember what it was). My renown went up by 4, so now stands at 44.

Have updated the roster in my first post.

It rains blood all the time on Halemnet Chris, not good for robots :-)

My sub-plot was Experimental Ship by the way.

Yes it was a great game, Necrons are scarily shooty!

Battlefleet Gothic - Chaos Necromunda - Redemptionists

Nice Smile

btw, I read in the FAQ that a game turn counts as two player turns so I think we were doing the solar flares correct by just rolling at the start of the game turn and not once each player turn.
