Cheers for the game last night JJ. So close, I worked out afterwards that it basically came down to those last two brace saves for our escorts! Now my fleet is slightly broken, but nothing that can't be fixed with a little rest and recuperation.

And cheers for organizing all of this!

Just saw this in the FAQs re. holofields:

In other words, its rolls once against a ramming attack, once against each Nova Cannon shot, and once against each hit imparted by ordnance attacks, Hit and Run attacks, etc.

So you roll to save for each hit. No wonder my bombers were so ineffective!

If it was me I'd "withdraw" that cruiser to get it repaired and use the repair points on escorts.

See now I read that as rolling once for a bomber squadron...

"Once against each hit imparted by ordnance attacks", well a squadron of bombers inflicts D6 hits, so the above statement means you roll to save against each of those.

Guys, my game against Chris' Necrons last night has had me very confused. We played scenario 2 "The Bait" as it was explained in my original printed rulebook. The victory conditions in my book said that the pursuing fleet got bonus victory points equivalent to the value of the ships that the pursued player brought on as reinforcements. Hence, by bringing on my reinforcements I basically lost the game as I gave Chris 495 points purely by "using my ships" (what a crime...)

Anyway, something was knawing at me about this as it just seems so harsh and I double checked the PDF version of the rulebook from the GW website at home last night. Blow me down, but the rule about the bonus victory points has been removed from the scenario in the latest version of the rulebook! Victory conditions are now just those of a standard game.

I looked it up on Google just to make sure it's not just an error and found this thread on Warseer http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread...int-to-PDF. It appears to be an official revision.

In that regard, assuming we are all working from the latest revision of the rulebook, it seems that I won the game last night with 187.5 victory points to Chris' 50vp's which he gets for crippling my Hades cruiser.

I'm not trying to be a sore loser Smile, but they obviously changed the rules for this mission for the very reason that I thought they seemed unfair. It's too heavily weighted in favour of the pursuer.

Oh, on that note, I think in "The Bait" scenario the "pursued" player is actually the attacker, not the defender as they have laid a trap for the pursuers...!?!?! If that's true my ships should have been pursuing Chris, not the other way around... Doesn't make a lot of difference in a raid though.

Yours, confused of Alcester...

Graham, that makes a lot more sense! I'm happy to go with that, although perhaps I would have fled sooner - will need to adjust the renown and repair points for us both seeing as you actually won the raid. It felt like you'd won seeing as how both my escorts and cruiser were crippled and fled, while you only had one crippled ship.

Will have a look tonight at the campaign rules again and sort out repairs etc.

That's very gallant of you Chris, thanks. I must admit that at the end I was left feeling a bit Huh about it.

I agree you may have fled sooner, not sure what we could do about that. I guess we both came out of it with a valuable ship crippled though and if you hadn't stayed to cripple my heavy cruiser you wouldn't have scored any vp's at all whereas at least you get +1 having crippled the cruiser...

yeah, don't worry about it, that necron ship will just have to spend a bit longer in repair - plenty more where it came from! To echo what one famous robot once said - We'll be back!

Cool, okay Chris, well in that case you now have 2 reknown and I have 4.

I'll probably use my 5 repair points to repair my Hades heavy cruiser, leaving the Slaughter class which took 2 points of damage as it is for now.

I guess we all need to do appeal rolls in front of somebody?
