Discussion on Flyers and How to beat Necrons
#21
the problem with the Hyperios against AV12 is that they'll only cause 1 pen and 1 glance(maybe) on average per battery.

Hyperios defence vs. flyers (St8 TL)
AV11 = 0.5 glance 1.5 Pen
AV12 = 0.5 glance 1 Pen

Jinking flyer
AV11 = 0.33 glance 1 Pen
AV12 = 0.33 glance 0.667 Pen

Not massively different but still noticeable.

I can see why you where tempted by the Contemptor with Kheres and cyclone but the range was the kicker.

yeah its the sheer volume of shots from the Kheres and the fact that it has rending that makes it good. the 24 inch range is the killer.

And of course the kheres is a big threat to infantry too

I've just been reading the rules for the contemptor (it's available for DA so why not lol) but it states "When the contemptor remains stationary for that turn is gains skyfire and interceptor" By turn I believe GW mean player turn, not game turn IE it would have interceptor and skyfire for your own turn only, I can remember reading what the term turn is used for somewhere in the rulebook, I couldn't find it when looking a moment ago.. but I'm sure turn is player turn and game turn is each players turn Huh

I could be wrong... but it's something to consider before the tournament (if in doubt email harry the TO for a answer before the tournament)

I agree Rob, if not otherwise specified "turn" represents "player turn". Page 9 of the rulebook...

News to me. That scuppers that plan. I always read that as turn meaning game turn. Bugger...... Might be a cheaper way of getting my air defence then, devastator squad?

Devastators don't make good anti flyer units IMO.

I would look at fortifications and other flyers, try allies as well if you don't to try any more forgeworld units.
