Looking in some detail at the 3rd Infantry division and their battles to the east of Caen in 1944 (as part of Op Goodwood), I decided to stick to the FoW army lists and organise a heavy tank company from the 503rd Schwere Panzerabteilung. This is to replicate the counterattack carried out by elements of the 1st and 2nd companies of the 503rd just outside Maneville in Mid July of 1944.
Due to the points cost of the German armour it's difficult to stick to the 1500 point limit I'd set myself. So I've added an element of Priority Air to the Late British company. This brings the points up to 1660.
The army works out as follows:
1 x Schwere Panzerkompanie HQ (Konigstiger x 1)
2 x Schwere Panzer Platoons (Tiger 1E x 4)
1 x Schwere Pioneer Plt mounted in Sd Kfz 251/7
1 x Panzergrenadier Plt mounted in 3 ton trucks
1 x 21cm Rocket Launcher Bty
1 x Schwere Panzer AA (Unarmoured Sd Kfz 7/1 (2cm))
This works out as 1655 points.
The armour is hopefully coming from eBay (painted), the rest from Buy4Less and the British Airpower from Waylands eBay site.
Adding the unpainted bits to the painting queue.
Next thing will be to organise some western European buildings and terrain.
