However AoS is more a case of pick what you fancy playing with and have fun. Sometimes things get better in bigger units, for instance a Dryad unit with 12 or more models gets to add 1 to save rolls, but in essence if you fancy picking a random box of models that fit your alliance, to build and paint, that's all you need. Which is where the appeal lies for new entrants. It then just a case of trying to balance the games, for a competitive and enjoyable reasoning. The GE Throne of Skulls had a force selection of 60 models, of which you could deploy any number of models using the games rules. However the winner of the event, would be determined via favourite game votes, so whilst you could take 60 Cannons, you wouldn't win the event, and probably have an I in-enjoyable time. Anyway yes the Death book is cheap, mainly because I doubt there will be much in it. You can pick up the models rules for free, although the Battalions tend to be restricted to the books. If your unsure of a battalion it's a 40k formation, so models that fit the battalion will get bonuses. Battalions also fit in battalions in some cases.
