I'll probably head down on the train I think. Early train from Birmingham International is pretty cheap, and sometimes first class is the same price as standard. Couple of tubes from Euston and then the DLR to Excel.

Me and Steve did the train last year. We were separated on the way down, but coming back there was more room, so we got some small games in on the way back.
