I can make it, how many points ?

Don't mind. I'll bring all my Chaos and we can decide on the night? Or we could get some practice in using our escalation lists?

Big props to Will for getting us our first win last night! I was rubbish, again - but defending with no terrain doesn't really suit a Tyranid drop list ;-)

I think our armies suit larger point games, at least while current restrictions are in place. I know that lack of swooping is getting my Flyrant minced a lot, as is not having a Malanthrope on the table due to lack of FW models. I've adjusted my 1050 list to include Regeneration on the Flyrant and a Venomthrope to plug some of these holes, and I'll play some practice games against my own Daemonkin lists beforehand to get some more time in with the Nids.
40K - Tyranids (4500 Points) & Chaos - The Purge and the Brazen Host (8500 Points)
30K - Death Guard (2000ish Points), Sons of Horus (175 Points because Loken) + World Eaters, soon.

That would be great, will depend when I'm next in!
With a bit of luck I'll be up next week and I'll sit in :-)

Looks like a fairly solid list - I'd perhaps counter-propose something like this:
+++ Alpha Legion (1050pts) +++

++ Legiones Astartes: Crusade Army List (Age of Darkness) (1050pts) ++

+ HQ (135pts) +

Legion Centurion (135pts) [Artificer Armour, Combat Shield, Nanyte Blaster, Power Dagger]

Legion Whirlwind Scorpius (115pts)

But then I'd consider some other things.
The Nanyte Blaster is very cool, and deadly - but at this stage 40 points is a lot to drop on a relic that you can swap out later. I'd consider dropping that, and both Apothecaries (depending on whether they've been in the list before) as well as a few other bits and bobs - to get more bodies on the ground.

Do you not think the extra CC weapons are worth it for 20 points a squad?

Can the Whirlwind Scorpius still use large blast no cover?

Drop the combat shields - 6++ for me is useless.

Your list has no mobility, I know you can infiltrate but I'd look at transports with a distraction unit in, Arif/Player will focus shots on that and not your quad gun and whirlwind. You want to advance into 12" Rapid Fire turn of death range ASAP with your infantry and keep them pinned with your heavy support fire :-)

CC is dead in this meta. It's about dakka and high strength Dakka. CC is good if you can close quickly (DS, Assault Vehicles, Jet Bikes / Bikes etc).

No if it stays still its D3+1 small blasts at str8 ap3

Yeah they were just a points fill.

I may need to buy rhinos then. Or drop pods.... Will have to check what china is selling.

CC combat is still very viable, as Thom says you just need the mobility and tactics to get in.

Jump packs or bikes are the way to go on CC units, less so Rhino's or drop pod as you can't charge turn you disembark. Better of putting Shooting units in those.

Same with infiltration or scouting, can't charge the turn you do it so need think of that when you deploy as will need to absorb a round of shooting with CC unit.

The main thing is getting the synergy and list balance right. If you want a CC army, you need to build the army around it. Its why i have a lot of MSU distraction units in my BA list, to make opponents think about whether to shoot Sang guard, Death company or pods etc. Smile

Things to remember:
The Combat Shield is raised to 5++ in combat - which for 5 points is great.
Combat weapons on tac squads in 30K are really not worth it - ATSKNF is not a thing, Marines will break in combat and be swept by tarpit units just by volume of attacks. Only dedicated combat units such as assault marines or armies with Fearless or an equivalent, such as the Death Guard, ever really want to be in combat.
As Thom said - mobility would be handy, but for the Alpha Legion more bodies on the ground is more useful. When you're Infiltrating all over the place you just need everything to get to objectives or cover and bunker down.
Artificer Armour on squad Sergeants allows you to have a chance to soak AP3 fire with LoS rolls.

30K - Death Guard (2000ish Points), Sons of Horus (175 Points because Loken) + World Eaters, soon.
