Graham's Chaos Space Marine Fleet [Campaign]
#1
Iron Warriors legion, carrier group "Iron Eviscerator" attached to 5th grand company.

[Image: uc?export=view&id=0B3U16mxzdb40WldwaEhsUDk3Qms]

1 x Despoiler class battleship (Chaos Space Marine crew, Chosen Terminators, Targeting Matrix, Disciplined Crew, Elite Command Crew) 490 points
1 x Desolator class battleship (not yet arrived with the fleet)
1 x Repulsive class grand cruiser (Chaos Lord, Chosen Terminators,Extended Range Lances, Superior Damage Control) 303 points
3 x Slaughter class cruisers 165 points each
1 x Devastation class cruiser (Chaos Space Marine Crew, Skilled Engineers, Auto-loaders) 248 points
1 x Devastation class cruiser (Chaos Space Marine Crew) 225 points
1 x Hades class heavy cruiser (Motion Tracking Targeters) 220 points
1 x Styx class heavy cruiser
3 x Idolator class raiders 135 points
6 x Iconoclast class destroyers 180 points

Game 1 (Raid: The Bait) Traitor Legion Chaos vs Chris' Necrons - I won the game as the attacker
Hades heavy cruiser was crippled and withdrawn for repairs. Damaged Slaughter class cruiser was fully repaired, my Repulsive grand cruiser successfully requested a refit and gained "Superior damage control" which allows an extra dice when rolling to repair damaged systems. My renown goes up to 4.

Game 2 (Raid: Convoy) Traitor Legion Chaos vs JJ's Eldar - I lost the game as the attacker
Slaughter class cruiser was destroyed and replaced with a new Ld 6 ship. 2 x Idolator raiders were destroyed, but the squadron was repaired using my 2 repair points. I then rolled a 1 when requesting reinforcements! Sad Hades heavy cruiser returns to active service. My renown goes down to 3.

Game 3 (Battle: Escalating Engagement) Traitor Legion Chaos vs Keith's Tau - I won the game as the attacker and take possession of Hive World Halemnet (assuming nobody else already has?)
Devastation class cruiser was destroyed and replaced with a new Ld 6 ship (but Ld 7 due to chaos marine crew)
1 Slaughter class cruiser was crippled and loses 1 Ld.
1 Slaughter class cruiser goes from Ld 7 up to Ld 8.
Hades class heavy cruiser goes from Ld 7 up to Ld 8.
Despoiler class battleship gets "Targeting Matrix" refit (left column shift on gunnery table) and also gets crew experience upgrade "Disciplined Crew" which allows it to re-roll one failed Ld test per battle.
I get 6 repair points which brings my fleet back to a fully fit status.
I rolled a 1 AGAIN when requesting reinforcements - seems my Iconoclasts are destined to be denied to me...
My renown goes up to 11 and I gain the rank "Exalted Champion of Chaos".

Game 4.
So, I played my fourth campaign game against Will’s Imperials last night. The game was a battle and the mission was “Exterminatus”. Will was attacking the uninhabited system (the name of which I can’t remember). Will’s sub-plot was Chance Circumstances – Unexpected Help which gave him 100 points of extra ships which he had to keep alive. My sub-plot was Secret Ploys – Hit & Run which meant I had to win the game within 2D6 turns. I rolled 3....!

Will started off strongly with an accurate salvo from three Nova cannons which crippled one of my Slaughter class cruisers, it disengaged in the following turn. My reinforcements came on at the furthest possible table edge from the enemy and had to use “all ahead full” to get up the table. My Repulsive grand cruiser and Hades heavy cruiser made a beeline for Will’s Gothic cruiser which was carrying the Armageddon weapon for destroying the planet. A lucky lance strike managed to permanently collapse the Gothic’s shields in turn 2 leaving it defenseless, meanwhile the continuing nova cannon bombardment battered the Hades heavy cruiser crippling it. In turn 3 the reinforcing Slaughter class cruiser and squadron of 3 Idolator class raiders finally joined the combat. Massed broadsides and lance fire reduced the Gothic cruiser to 1 hit point but despite a salvo of torpedoes from the grand cruiser which it fired through the Idolators in desperation (destroying one) I was unable to destroy the Gothic cruiser in turn 3 and so I failed my sub-plot by a whisker! The torpedoes and lance fire also destroyed two of the four-strong Imperial frigate squadron which was defending the Gothic cruiser crippling its effectiveness. Turn 4 saw the fiery demise of the Hades heavy cruiser as a wing of bombers finished it off and a few shots managed to penetrate the shields on the grand cruiser which took two points of damage. Meanwhile the second Slaughter class cruiser came about and annihilated the two Imperial frigates which Will had taken as his unexpected reinforcements thereby denying Will his sub-plot also. Finally the Repulsive grand cruiser fired a devastating broadside at the stricken Gothic cruiser reducing it to a drifting hulk and destroying the Armageddon weapon with it thereby ending the mission and sealing a hard-fought victory for the defending Traitor Legion ships!

So, at the end of the game I replace the Hades heavy cruiser with a new Ld 6 ship. I am withdrawing the crippled Slaughter class cruiser for repairs and using my 6 repair points to bring the grand cruiser back to full health and replace the one destroyed Idolator raider. I failed my roll for reinforcements (for a third time!) and also failed my refit request. However the Idolator squadron acquired an Elite Command Crew which allows it to automatically pass one Ld test or command check per game.

My renown goes up to 15 making me a Tyrant!

Game 5.
I played against Keith's Tau last night. It was a battle (Fleet Engagement) 1250pts per side. I was attacking and was trying to win the Mezoa system. My sub-plot was "Fleet Experience".

Brief overview, we played to the end of turn 4 at which point we ran out of time. At this stage Keith was well ahead on VP's (400ish to my 170ish) but the game was about to get interesting. I lost a cruiser and a squadron of escorts plus I had one other cruiser crippled. It was all those Tau torpedoes that did it (as usual). I just didn't have time to close the gap and use my guns really. I had managed to cripple one of Keith's cruisers early on which disengaged before I could finish it. I also scored a lucky critical hit on his flagship which caused its shields to collapse. It was down to 3HP and defenseless when we had to finish - so close! On the upside I succeeded in my sub-plot while denying Keith his, so it's not all bad Undecided

I got 3 more renown to put me up to a total of 18 after 5 games.

Game 6.
I played against Chris' Necrons last night. It was a battle (Fleet Engagement) 1000pts per side. I was defending my corrupted hive world of Halemnet. My sub-plot was "Experimental Ship".

The game was actually really exciting, we both enjoyed it and it was so close. We played 8 turns before I disengaged and after totting up the points determined that I had won a narrow victory 314vps to Chris’ 300vps. Chris destroyed one of my Slaughter cruisers early on as a pair of them started the game quite close to his whole fleet, my second Slaughter cruiser was taken down to 2 hull points before disengaging crippled by flying off the table. My squadron of 6 Iconoclast destroyers spent half the game trying to get to the other end of the table where all Chris’ ships were, they didn’t do a whole lot in the end and disengaged crippled with two ships remaining. My Despoiler battleship was the star of my fleet really since my sub-plot caused it to have guns with +50% range at the expense of 2 hull points so it was able to start sniping its dorsal lances from 90cm away! It also sent swarms of Stormbirds carrying chaos marines to board the Tomb Ship several times. I got the Tomb ship down to 4 hull points in the end and it’s systems were so damaged from the boarding actions that it had a Ld value of 2! Chris disengaged it as it was useless and was about to get splatted by the Despoiler’s 7 forward facing lances. In the end a lucky strike by Chris’ Scythe cruiser collapsed the Despoilers shields along with 2 points of damage and so I disengaged it along with the rest of my fleet.

There were also 2 solar flares on the table which went off a couple of times and caused the Necrons some problems as they don’t have any shields, in fact one of these flares was responsible for crippling the Necron Shroud light cruiser.

In the end I got +7 Renown putting me on a total of 25 after 6 games. My Despoiler gained an Elite Command Crew. I have sent my destroyers away to be re-built, I get a new replacement Slaughter cruiser, spend 2 repair points fixing the Despoiler and the other 5 bringing the knackered Slaughter back up to 7 hull points.

Love it, typical Chaos, fire through your own ships! I like it!
