At The Works you can get a tube of acrylic pearlescent 'paint/stuff' (it is white) for £3. You just mix it in with your acrylics. e.g. turns a basic dark/mid brown into a 'metallic' bronze, and the more you add the lighter it gets, so becomes more coppery, etc. You can find them among the large tubes of acrylic paints, mixed in with other (white) special effect tubes.
