GW pulls Digital Editions, Forge World and Black Library off Facebook and Twitter - manrogue - 27-03-2014

Spotted this on dakka and thought it was worth sharing. The forge world and digital editions facebook pages were actually quite good, surprised they have been pulled.

Only reason i can think of is something to do with the new GW website?

Anyway-

Thought this was big news enough, but nothing was online, seems people are getting numb to GW doing silly and abusive things.

Anyway.

Forge World, Digital Editions, and Black Library have all been pulled from Facebook and Twiitter, which is a real shame because it was one of the few avenues of customer interaction. All searchs dump you back to the newsfeed or a generic search.

FW confirmed to a customer, that they consiously quitted facebook (reposted from BolS):

As these sites have grown in popularity over recent years it has become increasingly difficult to give them the support and attention required from within the FW team. Therefore we have taken the difficult decision to stop them completely.

In other words: Due to its popularity, we decided to quit facebook and twitter
So it doesn't look like they want to expand their presence on a redesigned GW website
Wait so, they have pulled the Social networking presence at it is "popular"?
What the Duck?

Sounds like they have staffing issues, someone was probably spending too much time on those sites and getting stressed at not doing the other work they were meant to be doing!?

You would think a company the size of GW would hire a community manager to do the Social media stuff and that though, even Mantic have one and they are nowhere near as big.

They do have Bek Hawkby but I guess this doesn't fall under her remit.

Crazy. I work in Digital Marketing and any enterprise the size of GW that can't handle social media of this scale should have its marketing manager shot with the nearest bolt gun/bolt thrower.
