Not sure what you folks are using in the way of varnishes, but may I suggest that you start using Testors Dullcote, in your varnishing routine.
The new system that I am using is to first coat twice, with Vallejo Gloss (thinned,) followed by the same routine, with Vallejo Matte. However to really take any form of shine left on the model, then move onto the the magic spray, and a light coat of Dullcote is the perfect finish.
Over on the Wyrd forums, someone posted their Red Chapel Gang, first sprayed with GW Purity Seal, and then later with Testors wonder spray.
