Hi all,

Thought it was about time I made my own thread seeing as everyone else has. Good game against James last night. We got "Escalating Engagement" again, but to save time we split our forces (1000 points) into four divisions instead of five. I was the attacker, and I won, so I now have a decent system (Rebo). In fact, the win looks quite decisive in terms of victory points (+10, compared to James' -1) but that doesn't really reflect the outcome of the battle at all. In fact, as 10 o' clock approached, we rolled a die to decide whether we would extend the game by another turn or finish in the turn we were on. If we had decided to extend, I would have tried to disengage my entire fleet, as almost every ship was crippled while James still had his completely undamaged, biggest ships heading my way.

Luckily for me we ended it though, and while a lot of my ships had been crippled, I had destroyed two squadrons of escorts and a Dictator, which gave me a big advantage in terms of victory points and won me the game (although in terms of the actual situation on the battlefield, my fleet was screwed).

Sub-plots: My sub-plot just meant that the battlefield was littered with terrain. James' sub-plot gave him an extra squadron of escorts which he was supposed to keep alive (but didn't)

Lucky: My entire fleet managed to make it onto the table by about turn 3, and there was one turn in which they were all firing at James' Dictator which was his only ship for a long time. It did really well to survive as long as it did, helped by a strength 8 salvo of torpedoes where 5 conked out before they hit their target (5 6s rolled on 8 dice).

New renown: 21, and with a civilised world under my belt, that gave me 5 repair points to repair my crippled Protector and Emissary, flagship has gone home for repairs (again). My appeals gave me some kind of crappy thrusters on my flagship that give it +1 LD when burning retros, and an extra Demiurg ship. I am still in a situation where even when ships have survived battles, none of them have ever gained any experience as a result of which most of my fleet is Ld 6.
Well if you can pull off a win when the chips are down you must be doing something right! Looking forward to our game next week, although I might be a bit rusty - will have to go through the rules, again!
Yeah, seems to be a recurring theme with me - I either win or if I lose I do OK in terms of VPs, but normally only one ship survives without being crippled. Don't know if it's because the Tau are so fragile, or if I should brace more, or something else...
Hi all,

Had a 1500 point battle against Chris last night, fleet engagement, I lost. Foolishly split my force equally, allowing the Necrons to focus everything on half of my ships while the rest spent the whole battle trying (and failing) to come to their rescue. Still, they did OK. Managed to pretty much damage all of Chris' ships, and almost crippled the battleship which would have been awesome. In return I lost the two light cruisers (no big deal as they were on Ld 6 anyway) and the Castellan squadron lost two ships. The Demiurg cruiser was also crippled by an extremely lucky shot that triggered an internal explosion. On the other hand, I finally made an experience roll so the Evelasting Victory's wardens are now Ld 7. Yay.

After the battle I made two more successful refit requests, giving me improved sensors on one of the Demiurg ships and autoloaders on the Tsunami C. Chris is now the proud owner of the agricultural system Verstap. Oh, I also got demoted from Admiral to Subsector Commander as my renown went down from 21 to 20.

Thanks Keith, do you know how many renown Chris gained or how many total he is on now??
Got it written down somewhere upstairs, will dig it out tomorrow.
Keith, can you tell me how many renown you had after your game with Graham/before your game with James?
